Personal Post: NaPoWriMo

Well, as many of you are aware, I’m sure, this month is National Poetry Writing Month, or NaPoWriMo, and I am participating in the festivities (surprise, surprise)! To keep myself on top of the game, I followed someone to NaPoWriMo.net and submitted this blog as a Participating Site, and little did I know (until a good friend of mine informed me) my very first poem for NaPoWriMo would earn me a little write-up on their wonderful website!

So, this post is to just give a little thank-you shout-out to NaPoWriMo.net and to wish all of you other NaPoWriMo participants good luck with your writing!

Personal Post: Hitting 2000

With the pure ridiculousness of the number, I’m trusting that the title of this post will not insist anything other than my newly reached landmark of having posted 2000 posts of poetry, prose, the occasional quote, lyric, picture, and personal post on this blog. That’s right, ever since my sad and confused intention to start this back in the summer of 2010 I have been posting at least one piece of writing every day, so thank you for those who have stuck with me through all, most, or even a little bit of that!

This landmark comes at a time of numerous other landmark events. Also relating to this Tumblr-blog, I recently received my 1000th follower a few weeks back. Now, I know that I don’t connect with many of you very often, but I love and appreciate each and every one of you for taking your time to read my writing, however occasionally and begrudgingly!

My other recent landmark event was reaching my 23rd birthday on the 23rd of January. Don’t worry, I wasn’t telling people! I hate it when people sing “Happy Birthday” to me anyways. I just don’t understand what you’re supposed to do while everyone else sings!

So, that’s it. For the 2000th post I just wanted to issue a general thank you to everyone who has supported me and spent some time talking to me since I’ve been around on here. I know my presence isn’t as great as some others’, but I still appreciate those who take the time to keep reading, hearting, and commenting on my work.

Thank you all, and you’re all the best followers an occasional poster could ask for!

Personal Post: About Chris’ Secondary Blog

In case anyone is interested, I recently created a less-frequently updated secondary blog, Right,Write Wrong, where I have been posting my non-fiction writing, including reviews of the books I’ve read this winter break, creative non-fiction stories, and rants against Christmas music.

My non-fiction writing needs quite a bit of work (in my opinion), so if you even want to check it out to offer me some criticism, all comments would be welcome and much appreciated!

Personal Post: I know some darn talented people. 

One of my co-editors at In/Words (the student-run lit. mag. at my uni. (oh, how I love abbreviations)) has won the John Newlove Poetry Award from a respectable online and print publication, Bywords. I’m very proud of her, hence why I’m sharing this. Click here to read her awesome poem!

Personal Post. Hello everyone, How are you all today? Well I hope. It’s raining here, so I guess things could be better. Who doesn’t like a good little rain, though. Anyways… I call this a “personal post” because it is a post about myself (instead of another poem or weird story in which nothing really happens) and it contains some information about myself that I wish to share with other people. I like to downplay the significance of this, but I am actually very excited to announce that my very first ever chapbook has been printed and bound (as seen above) and will be launched at a Halloween Reading Series in my town. Now, I don’t know if many (or any) of my followers are from Ottawa and will actually be able to come out to the launch, so I guess I should also say that if anyone reeeeeaaally wants a copy then they can send me an ask and we might be able to work something out. I mean, if not for the half-decent poems, the chapbook is definitely worth $3 just for the incredibly awesome cover design by a good friend of mine. Okay, so that’s it. Personal Post. I’m terribly afraid that many of you won’t care about this, but I am very (extremely, frighteningly, giddily) excited about this new record I bought this weekend. It even came with a poster and a DVD! I also got an Otis Redding album and a compilation of Motown hits. It was a good albeit weird collection of records to purchase at once.
